Academy Program | U8-U10

The purpose of the Academy is to develop the core fundamental skills of soccer with girls and boys between the ages of 7 and 10 years that love the game and want to play at a higher level. The curriculum is based on a 12 week cycle using small sided circuits to identify and develop techniques in situations that develop the player's individual skills and conceptual understanding of soccer. Coaches create the game and the environment required to apply the best learning tools for the players. Players are not given specific positional restrictions, they therefore have a wider expectation of themselves and increased appreciation of the game. Academy is for those players that have the desire and commitment to attend a greater number of practices and games, compared with recreational soccer.

Academy coaches have high level playing resumes, extensive coaching experience, and certified coaching licenses. We intentionally invest talented coaches in Academy in order to inspire young players to increase their appetite for the game, foster rapid skill development and instill the value of sportsmanship amidst tough competition. This way, we provide the best possible environment for talented young players to grow and develop as soccer players, and as people.

The criteria to assess the level of interest is the following:

  • Commitment to attending practices and attendance to games
  • Ability to concentrate and add (not subtract) from the learning environment
  • Love of the game
  • Foundational relationship with the soccer ball

Inter Northshore FC Academy is an education based program. It is an Academy for developing the fundamentals of soccer and enjoyment of the sport. Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association (WYSA) determines the number of teams allowed and the number of players allowed on each team. Players that show the level of commitment required will be accepted and given a place in the Academy within WYSA limits. Academy player assessment is based on the Dutch methodology, TIPS.
